During the Covid-19 pandemic travel rules and restrictions become very confusing. We want to set out as simply as possible what our golfers coming to Benidorm from the UK need to do and be aware of when booking a Benidorm golf holiday. The information below will assist you when making a decision to book your golf holiday with us. The following information is for travel purposes relating to tourism.
Spanish Government rules
To enter Spain you are required to complete a Health Control (FCS) Form. You must also be able to show proof of being fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to arrival in Spain (date(s) of vaccination must be specified), with a vaccine authorised by the European Medicines Agency or by the World Health Organisation If you live in England, Spain will accept the NHS COVID Pass or your NHS letter to demonstrate your COVID-19 vaccination status. If you live in Scotland or Wales, Spain will accept your respective NHS letter to demonstrate your COVID-19 vaccination status. Your NHS appointment card from vaccination centres is not designed to be used as proof of vaccination and should not be used to demonstrate your vaccine status.
Booster jabs – You are still classed as fully vaccinated even if you have not received a booster jab.
You will be denied entry to Spain for purposes of tourism if you can not prove your vaccination status. A negative test is now no longer accepted to be able to enter Spain for tourism purposes.
The above requirements apply as long as you have remained in the UK for the past 14 days. The requirements apply to everyone from 12 years old upwards. For anyone under 12 years of age they are exempt from the above requirements but they do still need to have a QR code gained by completing the FCS form.
UK Government rules
Anyone entering the UK when returning from Spain will be required to complete a passenger locator form
You are required to pre-book a Lateral Flow test for your return to the UK. You can take the test any time after you arrive and before the end of day 2 at the latest. The day you arrive is day 0. You DO NOT need to self isolate until you receive a negative test result.
For those that are not fully vaccinated you will need to take a Covid test before entering the UK and then a day 2 and day 8 test after arriving as well as self isolating for 10 days.
Summary of requirements
Based on the status of the Spanish and British government rules the following requirements apply when you enter Spain and return back to the UK after the 1st of December 2021
Test 2 - Pre departure from Spain to UK
Ensure you have your Lateral Flow test booked. You have to take this up to 2 days after you arrive back in the UK. You need the booking reference number as you have to insert this on your passenger locator form.

No testing is required before you leave Benidorm to return to the UK.
Tests required after arriving back in the UK
As of the 9th Jan you are required to take a Lateral Flow test within 2 days of arriving in the UK. The test can be taken as soon as you enter the UK. This test must be pre booked before you fly to the UK as the reference number is required on your passenger locator form.
For those that are not vaccinated, you will be required to take a PCR test on day 2 and again on day 8. You will also be required to self isolate for 10 days.
If you go on to the Travel Republic website there are discount codes to get the day 2 test for £43 or the day 2 and day 8 test package for £86. They also have discount codes for other testing options including the day 5 test to release from isolation.
A lot of our customers have asked us what happens if you test positive for Covid when on holiday in Benidorm. The reality is you should not board your return flight home. Therefore you should book an extended stay in Benidorm and isolate yourself. This comes with associated costs which most holiday insurers are now covering. We strongly recommend you get a policy that covers this exact situation. Our advice if you do test positive is to contact your airline to find out when they will allow you to fly after testing positive.
The information on this page is not official and is here as a general guide. For the latest official advice you must ensure you follow the latest government advice as requirements are changing all of the time.

Wearing of masks
You are currently required to wear a mask in outdoor public places where a social distance of 1.5 metres can not be observed when in Spain. You must also wear a mask when going in to shops or when entering a bar or a restaurant and once seated the mask can be removed. You are not required to wear a mask on the golf course. When inside a vehicle for your golf or airport transfers you must wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. If you are exempt from having to wear a mask then you must carry the documentation required to prove this and share this information with your driver. If you can not prove this then you will be refused entry to the transfer as the driver is at risk of a fine if they are carrying passengers that are not adhering to the law.
